Prayer undergirds and is central to the vision of Southwark For Jesus.
We encourage people everywhere to call God ‘Father’, just as Jesus taught us, and to ask for more of His Kingdom of ‘Justice, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit’ to come into our borough. (Romans 14:17)
Our goal is to stimulate prayer in every sphere of community life. For over 30 years we have prayed that Southwark might experience transformation and renewal in every area of our community; at work, at play, on our streets and in our homes. As we have prayed together we have seen dramatic changes in Southwark. Regeneration has changed the face of the borough, but more than that, community has been built and people have sensed a fresh wind of change. Crime figures have fallen and fresh initiatives have come to serve the borough. Street Pastors walk the streets at night in some of the toughest areas, and youth initiatives have sprung up to serve our schools. Since the late 80’s Southwark has witnessed church renewal and church planting. There are over 200 churches in the borough, many planted in recent decades. The needs of the borough are still many, but many transformations have taken place.
We invite everyone; businessmen, civic leaders, police, councillors, teachers, artists, and students to send us prayer requests, so that Southwark Churches may join you in prayer for your workplace, your colleagues and for your unique role in serving society.
